Australorp is dual purpose breed being used worldwide for eggs and meat production. It lays 320 plus eggs per year. The record of this breed for laying eggs is 354 eggs per year. Male of this breed weights 3Kgs, and female of this breed weights 2.5 Kgs. Specialty of this breed is not their production of eggs and meat but their distinctive bluish black clour. These birds have reddish medium heighted comb with slight wattles. Eyes and legs of these birds are black. Their nails should not be yellowish but it should be pinkish white. It has black masked face with long thick black beak. The tail of bird should be upward or straight for commercial bird but for heritage it should be making a round flower.
Australorp Pure Hertiage Breed is a gigantic breed. Male of this breed weight 4.5 Kgs, and female weights 3 Kgs. The egg production of Pure Heritage Australorp is 250 plus each year. Australian poultry association recognizes three clours of Australorp i-e: White, Black, and Blue but American poultry association recognizes only black Australorps. Heritage breed is the best for home poultry industry. It is docile and easy to keep.
Other than black colors of Australorp look very attractive. They have same egg laying and meat production. I cannot tell how beautiful White Australorp look but i would paste a eye-catching picture for you. I feel that you would be very happy to see White Australorp with black eyes, black legs, and black beak but it has white feather.
